Casper is a lovely friendly Lab who is very well behaved and loves everyone. He constantly has a toy in his mouth and has worn down his front teeth from doing this. He is great with kids and other dogs. In this hot weather he loves a shell pool filled with water and he just sits in it, quite happy to be cool and not to have to move. He has been on a diet and still needs to lose a few kilos. If you are looking for a happy friendly boy who is quite content to laze around with you and not exert too much unnecessary energy then Casper will be perfect. He does love his walks and is happy to be friendly to everyone that he meets.

Princess is a wonderful little cat, lots of fun and great to have
around. She is always friendly and very chatty especially in the
morning when she thinks it is time for you to get up and entertain
her. She is not bothered by strangers, confidant around other cats and
not afraid to give as good as she gets. In fact her playful energy
often gets her into trouble with our bigger tom but she has a good
pair of lungs and can stick up for herself.
Princess likes a lot of fuss and will readily purr (loudly) to show
her affection. She doesn't mind being picked up even if she would
rather just play. And her party trick? Well she loves paper. She
loves the sound of paper being scrunched up and loves it even better
when it is thrown for her so that she can chase it and bring it back
for you to throw again. She also has great paper ball control and can
dribble with the best of them.
She will make a great companion to anyone with a bit of time to give

Thredz (long haired ginger female - left in the picture) is an adorable little cat. She gets on well with Jindi as well as older cats and our large dog doesn't phase her at all. A little quieter in personality than Jindi, she doesn't like to be left out of a cuddle and will meow to get what she wants.
Jindi (short haired ginger right in the picture) is a little speedster - he zips round the room in a quite haphazard way, & always as fast as he can go. He has an extremely out-going personality. He is very attached to people and will launch himself out of his cage if he thinks there is any chance of getting a cuddle & loves to snuggle around your neck under your hair and purrs loudly.
Both these boys love their food & will put on quite a show if they think there is any chance that their food bowl will be topped up.

Reuben has all the traits of an Irish Setter & at 3 years of age he is only starting to move away from puppy behaviour.
He is a very loving dog & loves to get cuddles from you a much as he can. He will lie down on the floor beside you & place his head on you for a cuddle.
He is a very big Irish Setter standing at 76cm (30 inches) at his shoulder. He can easily place his head on a bench-top.
Reuben is good on the lead, he knows heel, sit, stay, lie down, gently (when feeding him snacks he gently takes the food from you).
He gets along well with other dogs & is fantastic with cats as he has spent all his life living with 3 cats - he is very attached to Jack the ginger tabby who came into foster care with him.
He can be stubborn when he wants to do what he wants, not the command you are giving him, but will eventually do what is asked of him.
Reuben sleeps on his back.
He has lived as an inside dog & would require this in his new home. He will also need the company of another dog or preferably a human for company a lot of the time.
Reuben would not be suitable in a home with very young children as he would knock them over in his excitement of lolloping over to greet people.

Poor Jewel came into care only 2 weeks ago from a horrible situation. Jewel was found in a horse float stuffed in a bag that tight she had to be cut out,no one knows how long she was in there but when out she couldn't stand or move. She was lucky to escape with her life as she was so dehydrated. Jewel was rushed to the vet where she was given fluids and food and luckily she has come out the other side ok. She is a little shy but likes be patted and stroked. Jewel will need paitent owners willing to work with her to gain human trust 100% again. She currently shares her space with another cat "Big Poppa" who is also listed. They sleep together and eat from the same bowl so if you are looking for 2 cats they would be ideal. Poor Hetty hasn't had the best start to life. Born with an unfortunate Mustache, she was found behind the local shops at around six weeks of age. Due to this she is still very cautious around people as she is scared they are going to hurt her. Once she feels comfortable in her surroundings she acts like a normal little cat running around and playing with toys. She will come upto you for pats and even sit next to you on the lounge. Hetty would prefer to be the only feline in the household so she can deeply bond with her owner. She likes playing with other cats, but becomes focused on them and not on her human companions. Hetty is 100% litter trained and loves using her scratching post. She is not destructive, and sheds little fur. Hetty just wants someone who can look past her mustache and can be a kind and devoted owner. The person who does will be rewarded with a very loyal and affectionate friend.

Lulabelle: Hi Im Lulabelle, I am the prettiest of all my siblings and a walking testament to the fact that pretty people get everything they want, as I am also the biggest and fattest. I am a domestic medium hair and when I grow up I will probably require some brushing to keep my fluffy coat in order. I also have a pink nose, so would need to be kept indoors or have some daily sunscreen put on my nose. I really like to be stroked and made a fuss of, while i'm pretty busy and independant, I do love a cuddle and I'm very purry, I do like to chase and play too. Jet (the smaller one) – loves to explore !! He is very curious, and although mischievous at times, he is very affectionate – and as ‘cute as a button’. He loves to rumble with his brother, and ‘jump’ onto anything that moves. His name is reflective of the fact that he runs incredibly fast, so he will suit an agile home who is ready to dash after him. He certainly keeps you on your toes, but brings so much pleasure in return.
Smudge (the bigger one) – absolutely adorable. Loves to sleep and would suit a calmer household. As a kitten, he does love to play – but in general, he is quite calm and relaxed. A little bit like a ‘grandpa’ cat in a kitten’s body. You will have hours of fun watching him walk around, stop, clean himself, yawn, fall off furniture. Nilla is a beautiful, soft natured, girl who is very affecionate, friendly and is
very people orientated. She loves nothing more than to be with her
human family getting all the attention. Nilla is very playful and she
would love some children to play with at her new home or even another
doggie friend to play with. She is learning how to fetch a ball (well
she chases it anyway doesnt bring is back as yet). Nilla lives with 9
other dogs 5 of whom are chihuahuas she is great with them and you can
often find them curled up asleep together in the kennel, she is very
well socialised with big and small dogs. She also lives with 3 cats
who are very dog friendly and rub up against her all the time and she
is also good with them but she could only go to a cat friendly home if
her new feline friends aren't scared of dogs and dont run away from her
if they do she will chase them. Nilla requires little excerise she
gets a 10 minute walk a day and thats enough for her and she would
require even less if she had some children to play with her and keep
her busy. She sleeps most of the day doesn't fret or bark if left by
herself during the day so she would make a great only dog too. Nilla
walks great on the lead and never pulls. If Nilla sounds like your new

Porter is a very handsome smart boy who know how to fetch and catch a ball, loves playing with water from the hose and walks very well on a lead.
He is very friendly when meeting new dogs and loves his pats and hugs. sadly he was bitten on the tail by another dog at the pound and as a result half his tail has been amputated.
Porter would make a fantastic family dog as he is very gentle with children and only wants to be loved.

Unfortunately during his stay at the pound Porter was bitten on the tail by another dog. As a result he lost the tip of his tail however further investigation by the vets have determined that his tail has been broken further down and there is nerve damage and exposed bone. Sadly this means half of Porter's tail will need to be amputated. Luckily he should make a full recovery and this won't cause him any ongoing problems.

Jack is a very smoochy boy who head buts you for a rub around the neck.
He took a couple of weeks to settle in when he came here, but once he was comfortable with his new surroundings, he has showed us just what a lovely personality he has.
Jack is good with other cats & kittens and is extremely good with large dogs. He is very attached to his friend Reubin the Irish Setter who has come into foster care with him.

Barney

Barney was abandoned as a young dog left to wander the streets all alone. The resident store owner felt sorry for him so would leave food out for him. However Barney belonged to no-one. Barney had to find different places to sleep at night to stay dry and warm.
Anne a DCH Animal Adoption foster career noticed that Barney always seemed to hang around this store and when she equired with the owner of the store he informed her that Barney had been abandoned some years ago and had continued to hang around the local Streets. Barney then came into DCH Animal Adoptions care. For the first few days Barney was very sad and depressed as he was unsure of what was going on and he did not understand English very well. However after a few days he began to trust and he started to relax settling in and making himself at home. Now after being in care for about a month Barney has completely changed and is a very happy confident dog who loves human company but equally enjoys playing and hanging out with his new found canine friends. He is very gentle with children and when anyone gives him attention he laps it up. Barney doesnt really like his feline friends as he feels that they are put on earth to chase (not harm) but chase.
Generally Barney is now a well adjusted happy dog who has learnt after all this time to be a dog and hang out in a back yard where he gets plenty of Love, food, shelter and companionship without having to try to hard.

Barney was a street dog for many years. Without a warm home to call his own or someone to take him to the vet when he was ill, he was in a fairly poor state when he came into care. We took him straight to the vets and he was diagnosed with severe arthritis in his left stifle and thoracic spinal pain. Barney was put on medication (rimadyl) anti inflammatory to see how he would respond.
Within a week of being on medication he started improving and acting like a two year old dog running and wrestling with his canine friends. At this stage he was then taken back to the vets for xrays, dessexing and a hernia repair. Barney is doing so well that we have reduced his medication dose and have since been able to take him completely off the medication and he has not looked back. He will probably need medication in the future but is currently comfortable without it.
Barney's medications and vet bills have come to $488 and we are seeking sponsorship to help us cover these additional costs.

If you are after a lap-cat then Sampson might be just what you are looking for. Even on 40 degrees days he will at least keep his back half on your lap just to be near you. If you let him, he is happy to spend the entire night on your lap. If you lap isn't available , the the arm of the lounge or another spot bery close to you keeps him happy.
Sampson has the most amazing blue eyes I have ever seen in a cat.
He gets along well with numerous other cats & kittens and has always lived with large dogs so they don't worry him at all.
He loves people & will meow at you when you talk to him,& he doesn't seem to have any bad habits at all.

Levi - (ginger/white) is a very sociable, friendly boy & loves to be with everyone. He mixes well with dogs cats, children etc etc. Isn't afraid of noises or anything & loves to wrestle/play with his brother. Levi would easily fit into any home (with or without other pets) & appears to adjust well.
He is inquisitive & loves to sleep near you in bed & would make a great companion.
Lenny- (ginger) is a little bit shy & takes a bit longer to meet new people but is very loving & is easily settled when he gains confidence with a bit of love & attention. Tom is a big boy with a beautiful personality. He was found roaming at the local shops very matted and hungry! Since he has come into care, Tom has put on weight and regained a beautiful long haired coat (after he had to be shaved). Tom isn't very active and loves to find a favourte place in the house to sleep the day away. He loves to be patted, and will happily sit on your lap for hours while you watch TV. Tom gets along okay with other cats, but would prefer to be the only cat in the household. He is easily annoyed by energetic cats and will swat them away in annoyance! Tom is litter trained and is learning to use his scratching post. He will need to be brushed at least once a week to keep his beaufitul coat in top condition. Squeak is a beautiful boy who has learned to live a happy life with two unfortunate problems. First of all his tail was broken and crushed earlier in life and healed badly. He is in no pain and it doesn't bother him at all. Secondly, he sneezes a lot which could have been the result of a severe bout of cat flu as a kitten. Squeak is currently being treated for the sneezing, however the vet is unsure if it will ever go away - its almost like he has permanent heyfever! Apart from these two issues he is a normal happy boy who just loves attention. Squeak loves nothing more than playing with, and grooming his feline friends. Yoda is a bit like his name sake, a little older, a little wizened but this older gent has the most gorgeous soul that shines out of him. He loves having a fellow similar sized canine friend in the backyard and quite enjoys games of chasing and pretend fetch (he runs for the toy and then races back to tell you that he found it but he’s not picking it up thanks : ) He loves his humans (he’s very loyal) and its not unusual to have him at your heels watching everything you do. He is very good at bath and is not a fussy eater – quite the reverse actually - he absolutely loves his food, he has been practicing sitting and is very food responsive. Yoda has mild luxating patella in one leg which this gives him no trouble at all. He enjoys his morning naps in the sun and is quite happy to hang out with his canine mates until you come home and once you are home he is thrilled to bits to see you and his tail doesn’t stop wagging. Yoda is fine with kids, he absolutely loves any human attention regardless of age. This loyal little man is just so well behaved and will give you huge amounts of love and affection if you just give him a chance to win you over with his sweet disposition.

Beau is a beautiful looking and beautiful natured boy. He has a gorgeous deep tan coat which is actually quite soft to touch. His cheeks are just so chubby you want to pinch them. Beau has been with his current owners for a while after they rescued him, but after a very heartfelt decision, they have decided that due to their personal circumstances, they do need to rehome him.
Beau has all his vetwork done, including desexing and has current vaccinations. He is also microchipped and lifetime registered. Beau is fantastic with other dogs and does love their company. He is very well behaved, especially in the car where he just sits beautifully, waiting to be taken to some exciting location. He is still quite young so does need his daily walk/run. Beau is great off lead and has been enjoying himself immensely at his local off lead dog beaches. Beau is used to being inside a fair bit and is fully housetrained. He would need a yard with quite good fencing but certainly wants to be inside at some stage and does sleep inside at night. Beau is quite affectionate and would suit anyone looking for a dog who is already trained but still nice and young who can keep his new owners active and fit. Sooty was rescued from a feral colony. She was obviously meant to be with humans though as she took no time at all to tame. She now follows you around and much prefers people to other cats.
Sooty, at only 8 months of age gave birth to 5 gorgeous kittens on 28:10:08
She has done a wonderful job and all 5 have survived - which was unexpected for a cat who is still a kitten herself.
Sooty is a very small cat and will probably stay very small (a mini cat).
She is mostly white with ginger appaloosa spots on her back and a few patches elsewhere on her coat, and a ginger/blacktabby coloured tail.
She will need to be with a person who is home a lot as she really enjoys human company.

This little cutie is all white except for a little grey stripe on the top of the boys head. Mickey is super affectionate, easy to handle and a delightful, confident young man. He's very inquisitive and playful and will do fine in a busy household with kids and dogs. Mickey needs to be inside mostly due to his colouring however he does like to duck outside for a quick nibble of grass, so he'd be best suited to a house rather than a unit/apartment.

Tamm came into care underweight and with a history of not being a good eater at all, certainly did not chew bones. A few days in care and Tamm 's face on one side blow up like a balloon and thinking maybe a bee sting he went straight to the vets where it was revealed that he had a terribly infected tooth and several major ulcers on the inside of his mouth. This long term infection started where the thumb is on the picture and had travelled all the way under the skin and was coming out where the 3 sores are near his nose. Tamm had to have emergency surgery to remove the pockets of ulcerated infection and also his back tooth. He is recovering well, definately got an appetite now and is making up for lost time in that regard, eats anything now, a massive bowl full very night including chicken necks.

Simba has a
lovely nature and at times can be quite shy. He loves being around
people and loves cuddles and he understands when its time for a quite
moment either reading or watching tv.
He gets along very well with other dogs and enjoys playing with toys and
riding in the car.
He is not too great on a leash, but he is getting better by the day and
with regular exercise will be a good dog to walk.
He is very responsive to obedience and within 2 days had learnt how to
sit when asked, even without a treat in hand.

Daisy is a very sweet lovable girl. She’s relatively tiny only weighing approx 3-3.5 kilos, making her very easy to pick up & cuddle. She can be a little shy to start with, but before long she’s following you around, trying to see what your doing, or rolling over for tummy rubs. She’s fine with other small dogs but we don’t think she is dependant on another canine for her happiness, so a home with another small dog or without is fine. She loves humans and can get quite excited when you get home dancing round in circles. She’s not a fussy eater and is a very placid sweet girl.

Teddie is a beautiful, placid and gentle boy. Having been neglected for the past year, he has piled on the weight and his coat was very dry and dull. Since he came into care, he is slowly losing the weight and his coat is glorious and shining. With a vast improvement in the quality of his food, and soft bedding, lots of TLC and trips to the dog park, Teddie has really come out of his shell. He is very friendly, loves adults and kids and follows his foster carer around continually. He shows complete disinterest in anything feline. He walks very well on lead, is perfectly housetrained and typically Labrador, loves his water . After a long walk he will come home and usually place his paws one at a time in his water bowl. He is non-destructive, having not ripped anything apart, he usually has a toy or a ball in his mouth when he greets you at the door. The only concern I have for him is that he is quite anxious when he is first left alone, regardless of how many canine companions he has with him, how many toys are left with him or how long a walk he goes on in the morning, but this is becoming under control, the new owner will need some patience in this area. This boy will only go to a home who can truly appreciate this most precious young fella.

Zara is typical of the breed – being alert and active, she needs regular exercise and stimulation. Luckily, she LOVES a game of FETCH so wearing her out is easy. Zara is quite rank driven so she is good with other dogs as long as the hierarchy is clear. For this reason we would also recommend an experienced owner who can display clear leadership.
Zara has had basic obedience training (SIT, COME, HEEL, STAY) and is keen to please. She is fine with older children (say 10+) but a little too excitable for the littlies. Zara has good manners with food.

Ash is desexed and microchipped. His multi-coloured coat is striking - tan/gold/black/white. People always
comment on it! He has the most gorgeous nature - very friendly, affectionate and gentle -
loves everybody and everything. Including my cat! He gets on well with other animals and
people and is fully house trained. He grew up with another male dog and my cat - they all love
and wash each other.
He is a big dog! :) And still some puppy type features. Loves to run - needs more space than
my small backyard can offer. So I am looking for someone on acreage to take my beautiful
boy..he is a good rabbiter - he loves chasing them (and eating them) and will sniff out
burrows. He is good with horses - doesn't chase them. He grew up with horses early on...
Ash has some lovely qualities - he has a deep, deep bark and he "sings" with the sirens of
ambulances or police cars - or with me when I sing sometimes (I am not as good as a siren!!
LOL) ...it is quite delightful.
All up - he a wonderful companion and needs someone to just love him and continue to train

We were walking in a country park in Hong Kong with our other 2 puppies when an unknown puppy with no fur on his face came to play, a group of walkers ahead of us didn't like the look of the puppy & continued to push him away with sticks. We stopped this & took him home, he was clearly sick. This is how we came to love & care for "Scar Face" for over 3 years. Since moving to Sydney, having a daughter with another child on the way "Scarf", as we call him now, has not really settled he craves our attention. We are desperately trying to find loving owners to take care of him. Scarf is house trained, loves to play with you, is a great guard dog and will give you lots of love. Snowy has been surrendered into care due to owners ill health. He has
grown up with small children and loves to play. He has been allowed indoors, but did sleep outside in his
previous home. He is proving to be house trained, and will start sleeping inside now that he is in foster care.
Snowy has recently been clipped by the family in an attempt to manage his coat. Please note we
do NOT encourage any Samoyed to be clipped.
Snowy is a happy social boy that loves people and other dogs. He is cuddly and loving
in nature. He is not barky and is happy to be with you or another
dog. He has been in a family environment and has also grown up with an
older Rough Collie. Snowy has passed his temperament tests and will now proceed with his vet work

narla is a very friendly cat she is one of my favourite fosters. She loves human company, she is happy to sit and watch tv with you or curl up on your bed at bed time. She has been a good mum to her 6 kittens and it's now here turn to find a home. Narla does like other cats but i feel she gets along better with male cats. She is currently in an indoor outoor home but must always be indoors at night.

Narla was rescued from Renbury Farm Animal Shelter heavily pregnant. She gave birth to 6 little kittens shortly after and was being a good mother until last week when she seizured and was rushed to the vets. Narla had pyometra and the vets didn't hold out much hope of her surviving the night. Thankfuly she did pull through and later the next day when the vets felt she was up to it, they desexed her.
Narla has made a remarkable recovery and we are so thankful that she is now back with her kittens (albeit seperated for most of the day until her stiches are out). Narla's medical care has come to $250 and we are seeking sponsorship to help us cover these additional costs.

likes to bite & claw when he is playing. He has not learnt the fine
art of playing gently. At night he will wait for the other cats to
find their spot on the bed & will only then find himself a spot. He
gets on well with all the animals in the house. He got his name because he loves to play with a piece of sponge. It keeps him entertained for hours - he carries it
around the house & attacks it, which is so cute to watch.
