Woolworths head office in Norwest chose DCH Animal Adoptins to be their "Charity of the Month" for January 2010.
This meant a variety of events took place amongst woolworths staff during the month to raise funds for our Shelter Appeal.
There was a mega raffle, mufti day and a funny dog and cat photo competition and also the opportunity for DCH to talk to the staff about what we do in the community and our rescue efforts.
This event was a huge success and at the end of February we were presented with a donation from Woolworths of $11,651!
A big thankyou to Lisa Sharpe for coordinating this event. Also many thanks go to all those businesses that supported DCH with donations for this event.
1 February 2010 - Happy New Year 2010 IS HERE
2010 has arrived and our Shelter Appeal has been going strong for a year now. While there is still a long way to go, the end is certainly in sight with more than $100,000 raised for a shelter to house homeless pets in a caring environment until they can find forever homes or foster placements.
2009 was a very busy year with fundraisers like Taste Tests, Christmas in July dinner, and the Entertainment Book and Chocolate Drives. All this was on top of our usual hectic schedule of rescuing, temperament testing, obtaining transport and vet care, and finding homes for abandoned animals! Our thanks to everyone who volunteered for DCH during this time and to everyone who donated and gave us their support.
So what does 2010 hold for DCH? We will continue with our rescue work with our ever-increasing pool of volunteer foster carers and pushing ahead with our Shelter plans.
This year we’ll face some new challenges with several of our long-term Co-ordinators having to wind down their roles at certain times during the year due to personal commitments, so we’ll need more support than ever to keep up the fundraising drives that have been so successful in the past.
We’ve started the year in great form with a Woolworths donation of over $10,000 (more details to come soon). We plan to continue our successful Entertainment Book Sales and Chocolate Drives throughout 2010, and we welcome any new ideas or any new volunteers who would like to help raise our profile or contribute to these drives.
We plan to actively start looking for Shelter locations near the end of 2010 – stay tuned for regular updates!
With many thanks for your continued support

1 September 2009 - Diesel Supports DCH
NEW DCH PATRON STRIKES THE RIGHT NOTE
DCH Animal Adoptions is proud to announce that Australian music legend Diesel is our new patron.
The multi Aria-award winning artist says he is proud to lend his name to an organization which has saved the lives of thousands of condemned dogs, cats and horses.
“We grew up with rescue dogs in our family,” he said. “One of our dogs was a little mixed-breed dog we found in a drain.”
Diesel has carried his love of animals into his adult life and Rufus, a mini schnauzer, is now a part of his family.
“Our Rufus has had a lot of bad luck in the health department. He ruptured a disk in his back and his back legs are paralysed. Despite this he is a much loved member of our family and we wouldn’t be without him.”
“Ideally I’d like to see less animals euthanased in pounds and more living in loving homes, like our Rufus. I like that DCH provides that bridge — rescuing them from death row and keeping them in foster homes until permanent homes can be found.”
As official Patron, Diesel will help raise the profile of DCH.
“I’m looking forward to promoting the organization whenever I can,” he said. “Anything I can do to help save the lives of abandoned animals or even raise the profile of what DCH’s amazing volunteers do has got to be a good thing.”
