Hagis

Hi Megan,
Our first cat came into our lives as a free to a good home two years ago and never left our sides for more than an hour or two so when we hadn't seen him in days we feared the worst and couldn't stand how empty our home had become. We found Hagis through DCH and just knew he'd be perfect. I thought about what would happen if our cat returned and knowing I wouldn't want him going out again a friend at home was a logical solution, but would my baby really return after this long?...
We settled our new baby in and got used to just how different Hagis was to Meows then after almost 3 weeks the almost impossible happened and our baby returned. So we phoned DCH for advice on how to settle them in, needless to say they were amazing. We were EXTREMELY lucky and within days our cats were playing like old friends. Our first cat always having preferred to sleep at our feet and our new cat wanting to be up snuggling next to our heads in bed no doubt made this easier but I have gone form being hesitant to introduce a new cat to being a true advocate. We were very lucky but our boys will now have so much more fun. I would urge everyone with one spoilt mooch in their lives to seriously consider the extra cuddles of another baby. We all know the fierce reality of dumped cats lets play our part and take another desexed animal into a loving home.

George

Megan/Ann
We adopted George back in march and just wanted to send these photos. He has made it into a book of cheeky little cats published by Harper Collins. He now has a little sister we adopted called Jackie Chan and they are inseparable. He is one of the most vocal cats I have ever known and will often meow if you simply look at him, he also takes every opportunity to jump on your back if you dare bend down and let you carry him around like a king. Kind regards

Tanya & Craig

George was adopted on 02/02/07 after 2 months in foster care.
Buddy

Hi we just wanted to give you an update on Buddy who was adopted on 13th April 2007 by the Tomlinson family. This is an up-date on how he is doing.
His new for-ever-home is the best thing we have done by adopting him. He has brought so much joy into our lives. My husband has said Buddy is the only thing to make me smile in a morning (as I am not a morning person).
He has large gardens to play in & live indoors. He has two comfy beds to choose from, one were he spends his evenings with us in the lounge & the other is in the dinning area for bed time.

Buddy was adopted on 13/04/07 after 5 months in foster care.
Molly

Hi Megan,

As you know we took Molly home last Friday, leaving Leanne behind with tears in her eyes. And we can already see why. Molly was a bit excited that evening - lots of new smells and sights -but by saturday she behaved like she expected to stay here. She is so loving and friendly and really just seems to want affection . right now she is lounging on her very soft bed in our lounge room, if i am on the couch watching tv she is on the floor next to me. She spent the day sitting next to Wes in his office. Molly really just seems to want to be where we are. She had her first time on her own yesterday, we left her inside cos it was so cold out, and did not know what i would come home to - she was asleep under the dining table - surrounded by shoes, her toys, cat toys, our socks, none of them chewed, just surrounding her sleeping spot... we were pretty happy about that.
She has had her first walk on the beach - not sure what to make of the waves, but would love to chase the seagulls. we are going to the dog trainers on sunday, i think she will top the class as she is pretty smart, and then i will be able to let her run after those seagulls. our cat - oscar - is not impressed with our new addition to the family but he is slowly slowly coming round. so all in all a pretty good first week. we will send some photo's soon
regards wendy fenton

Molly was adopted on 11/08/07 after 3 months in foster care.
Rema

Hi Karen,

I just want you to know we love Rema so much she has fitted in to the Quealy way of life very easily. In fact I feel very privileged to have adopted her she is the most wonderfull little puppy. Rema travelled very well she slept most of the way home & not one wimper all night. We gave her our not yet washed farm clothes & a hot water bottle to snuggle up with. The other dogs met her Sunday a.m. & all went well she looks so small & cute beside them. Thank you so much for giving us the oppunity to adopt Rema.
Lara & Chris.

Rema was adopted on 4/08/07 after 2 weeks in foster care.
Patch and Junior (now Oliver and Charlie)

Good morning!
I thought you might like an update on the adventures of two rotti boys that I got through your wonderful organisation. I got them in April of last year shortly after suddenly losing my beloved Rotti companion Jack, at 8 and a half years old.
The two boys (Oliver and Charlie) are now 18 months old – Oliver is substantially larger than his brother and is rather special, Charlie is very quick and clever. Oliver had an intensive bout with a knee infection at about 6 months of age and I almost lost him, he was in hospital for over a week. We did go to Puppy School when they were “little” – everyone else was tiny, my two were already giants but they had the best manners and could already do Sit and Stay at just 4 months so they were the stars of the class.
They still adore each other (and their mum!) and have the sweetest natures – they of course are still eating everything including the kitchen walls, door frames, outdoor furniture etc but they are so full of the joy of life that they make you laugh too. They are great fun and wonderful companions. There is a big difference in their size so I would estimate Oliver at already being over 50 kgs while Charlie is around 30 kgs. I have attached some pix too of their various activities. Pretty much they are together all the time, including bed time.
Best regards to you all, you do wonderful work…..I had a tear or two when I read this current newsletter….

Patch and Junior were adopted together on 23/03/06 after 2 weeks in foster care.

Indigo

Judith, hi!

Indigo is fantastic! I speak for both myself and Luke when I say we are SO lucky that Indi chose us. Do you remember that she said hello, then ran to the car to check it out, as if to say "well, come on!". She has been running up to us and standing with her paws on our chests and headbutting our chins a lot. She also stands and balances on my shoulder while I am doing things around the house sometimes. She is a charmer, and everyone who has visited us in the last month has just fallen straight under her spell!
As I mentioned, my older cat was to be joining us within a month's time from Adelaide. We have just passed the two week mark with both cats in the house, and so far, things have been a lot quieter and calmer than I was worried they were going to be - especially since big brother Oscar has been in an single cat household for nearly five years. Indi was very sweet and persistant. I believe she had the radius of Oscar's "personal space" bubble worn down from two metres to thirty centimetres in one evening hehe.
Anyway, we are so grateful to you and your family for providing Indi with a home and helping her to be the friendly cat she is, and for then letting us steal such a treasure away from you! My digital camera is broken at the moment, so I am unable to take any photos of Indi to email to you. As soon as we get it sorted out, I will take some photos and send them to you so you can see how she is going.

Keep well,
Sari (and Luke, Indi and Oscar).

Indigo was adopted on 11/6/07 after 7 months in foster care.
Jax

Hi
just wanted to give you a I thought of sending you a couple of pics of Jax but we renamed him to Wolfie. He is such a pleasure and we love him so much. He know how to sit, drop, stay and walks very well on a lead. Max our mini foxy really gets along with him. I went out and bought a special dog kennel and they sleep together. Will keep you updated on how he is going

Hope all is well and thank you for your work .

Jax was adopted on 29/5/07 after 3 weeks in foster care.
Fluff

Hi Karen

We're just sending a few pictures of fluff (the name stuck) and her new friend sasha, our other doggy. They have both settled in very well and are getting along great in their new home. They do everything together, they have 5 different beds but always seem to end up sleeping together in the same bed. Just letting you know fluff has settled in great and everything is going well.
Thanks once again for the gorgeous puppy.

Graham and Kez

Updated Oct 07: Just wanted to send through some photos of what fluff looks like now. She's grown up alot but is still smaller than sash. She is soooooo friendly and playful. She loves going for a run with sash and playing in the water but I think the lab in her definitely shows too as she loves to sit cuddle with everyone. Her and sash get along great, there always playing together and fluff follows sash every where. We both love her so much and couldn't be happier with the way things turned out.

Fluff was adopted on 1/6/07 after 1 month in foster care.
Chester

To all at DCH animal adoptions,

I recently adopted Chester from you, and i just wanted to say a huge thank you.. He's an absolutely adorable dog, and without your website and efforts I wouldn't have found my forever dog. Thank you so very much

Fay Collings

Rosie

Hi,
Thought you would love to know how Rosie, (now known as Skye) is going. She is growing into a beautiful girl. Her coat is a little longer and she still has those radar ears! She has settled well into our family and loves going for walks and lots of attention. We enrolled her in puppy school and she obeys all basic commands, even sitting and waving her paws if she wants her food or a toy. Here are some photos of her taken a few weeks after she came to live with us.

Regards, the Sheedy Family.

Rosie was adopted on 18/1/07 after 4 months in foster care.
George and Zelda (now Alice)

As promised photos of George and Alice ( we renamed Zelda as she was so much like Alice in wonderland when we got her home).
They are wonderful together and seeing them play ( all day long) is a joy! Very happy healthy dogs, we are blessed to have them as part of the family, they go to the beach every evening or morning and love to swim and chase each other in and out of the water then roll in the sand until they are totally covered and start all over again. Alice is a shocking theif and will steal and bury anything that isnt nailed down ( cordless phone, TV remote, shoes , T Towels etc) whilst George looks on looking very innocent! I am sure he puts her up to it!
George is so happy to have someone to play with , he is calm and confident and happy to see all visitors including other dogs. They sleep one on either side of the bed ( on their own beds) or piled on top of each other snoring. We are taking them on holiday ( to Noosa) next week and look forward to exploring all the doggy beaches up there and wearing them out ( almost impossible!) Thanks for making it possible for us to have such wonderful additions to our family we are very privileged to enjoy them.

Kind regards, Jodie and Sam

George was adopted on 16/7/06 after 1 year and 1 month in foster care.
Zelda was adopted 1/3/07 after 1 and a half months in foster care.
Scooby

Hi Fran,

You were right, Scooby is just adorable and we all love him to bits already. He was so good in the car on the way home. When we arrived I let him get acquainted with every corner of the house and yard and he seemed happy. He gets lots of cuddles and gets a little jealous when I pat Rocky as well, but they get along fine even when it comes to food. He would like to be in the house all the time or rather stay close to me wherever I go, but that of course, is not going to possible so they spend some time outside. We go for walks everyday, so he will be well exercised, loved and looked after. Please don't worry. He sends his love and big thanks to you for your good heart and affection and good life that he's had so far.

Best Regards Halina

Scooby was adopted on 25/3/07 after 4 months in foster care.
Wilbour

Hi Fran

Wilbour has settled in really well. I think he thinks he runs the joint. We took him up to our country shack in East Gippsland and he had a ball.
Anyway, I have included a few photos of him .....he just keeps getting bigger and bigger. I think he weighs 12kg now.

Cheers Michelle

Wilbour was adopted on 22/3/07 after 3 weeks in foster care.
Ellie May

We purchased Ellie Mae from your agency 4 weeks ago. She has brought great joy to my wife and self and grand kids. She is thriving - here are pics of her.

Ellie May was adopted on 18/3/07 after 1 month in foster care.
Crystal

Dear Danielle
Just to let you know that Crystal settled very quickly into her new home. She loves playing in the grass outdoors & climbing the trees. She's gorgeous & we all love her.

Crystal was adopted on 3/3/07 after 1 month in foster care.
Tiska

Hi Judy

Tiska and Flip (my big baby cattle dog cross) get along pretty well - can't say it's a match made in heaven, but there are no fights or major disagreements and they play almost every night or rather morning - at 3am!!! Tiska's the boss, Flip follows after her when I let them off the leash in the park. Tiska is a most affectionate dog and I can see that she is a loyal companion who will be there when I need her (unlike Flip who'll run!) - she'll put her paw on me when she wants a little affection (and attention!) and is always prepared to give me pimples by licking my nose. I've made it a point to try to decrease her sensitivity to those "problem" areas by patting her around the sensitive areas. Tiska still loves making noise. she barks at everything from birds and fruit bats to people in the park, but that's her way of having a good time - she's my early-warning system for visitors - and Flip will tell me when they're literally at the door.
Tiska is very happy here, with her daily (sometimes twice-daily) long walks to the shops and the park. She is relaxed and has adjusted well to life in a small terrace in Balmain and she says "hello, and thanks for the good care you took of me!". And Flip says, "thanks for giving me a sister!"

All best Steven

Tiska was adopted on 2/10/06 after three months in foster care.
Melba

G’day
The leaders of my new pack are helping me type this message to you because I wanted to let you know how I’m getting on. I can do lots of clever things as you know, but without thumbs typing is a bit hard….
Firstly, I wanted to thank you for looking after me and finding a new pack for me live with – there are two upright walkers and two of those annoying cat things in the pack. I love the upright walkers and they love me. The cat things don’t seem to like me very much though, so I just ignore them – it’s much more fun playing and roaming about anyhow! I’m settled in to my new home now and am enjoying tasting things and testing the durability of everything! (Turns out the fancy bed mattress from the pet shop isn’t very durable…….) There are a couple of acres here so I also have lots of room to run around and things to do.
The leaders of my pack like the water – which is great because you remember how much I like the water!! We live near a big river so most afternoons we go for a walk down there and I have a great time splashing about, chasing sticks and trying to catch waves! On the weekends we sometimes go out on the boat – so many things to see and smell. Sometimes these slimy silver things end up in the boat too – it’s very exciting!! I also have a good friend which we go and visit sometimes, she’s a Chocolate Labrador – but likes to run and swim like me – we have a great time together!
Anyhow, I hope you don’t miss me too much, but I’m safe and happy. I’ve attached a couple of photos for you. Gotta go and test the durability of my new squeak toy – I want to see if it lasts longer than my Frisbee!
Love Melba

Melba was adopted on 09/1/07 after a month and a half in foster care.
