About the Rescue
Welcome to our rescue, where the sound of hooves on the earth is more than just a rhythm—it’s a promise. Founded in 2008, our rescue was born from a simple yet profound belief: that every horse deserves a second chance at life. What started with two horses—Sonny and Little Girl—has grown into a life-changing mission that now provides a safe haven for nearly 50 horses, along with other animals like cows, donkeys, goats, chickens, and even tortoises. Here, we don’t just rescue animals; we build connections, heal hearts, and create new beginnings for those who need it most.
What We Do
At our farm, we specialize in the healing journey—whether that means rehabilitation for medical cases that require specialized care or simply offering a forever home for those who can’t be re-homed. Over the years, we have rescued, rehabilitated, and re-homed over 1,000 horses, each one with its own unique story. Some of these horses go on to live full lives with new families, while others find comfort in our forever sanctuary.
We are more than just a rescue. We offer a community where people and animals alike find hope and love. With the support of generous volunteers, we also provide educational opportunities like trail rides, riding lessons, and kids' camps, all while sharing the beauty of our farm and raising funds for our ongoing mission. Whether you are visiting for a trail ride or supporting our work with a donation, you are helping to make this incredible story of rescue and renewal possible.

Who We Are
The Wheatley family’s journey with animal rescue began with a deep love for horses and a dream to create something meaningful for both the animals and the community. Ali Wheatley, the heart of the rescue, moved from England and handed down her love of horses to her daughter, Loran. Loran, has grown up alongside these animals, and together with Ali, they’ve nurtured a space that goes beyond just a farm—it’s a refuge, a community, and a testament to their dedication.
The Wheatley's are deeply committed to the community, not only through the care they provide to the horses but through their ongoing engagement with local events and programs. Their hands-on approach, combined with the hard work of volunteers, has allowed the farm and rescue to become a thriving staple of hope within Lake County.
Our Team.
Ali & Loran are the owners and coordinate all the day-to-day operations of the farm and rescue with the help of dedicated volunteers.
Cowboy, a Great Pyrenees, is the guard dog for the farm at night and the director of first impressions by day. You will likely find Cowboy lounging in the shade or getting scratches from all his favorite visitors and volunteers.
Bucky (Australian Shepard) and Gunner (English Golden) are two fun-loving puppies who will often be found running around together and ensuring guests are entertained!
